Millions allocated to the WEEE field in Denmark

In the period 2013-2017 a double-digit million amount has been allocated to a number of projects paving the way for Denmark becoming capable of establishing a new competitive so-called urban mining industry.

At both the national and European levels this industry must supply technological hardware and know-how for sophisticated extraction of valuable metals contained in waste electronics.

Survey of resource flows and improved data quality

Valid data quality is the basis for a real assessment of the business potential in this resource industry. DPA-System participates actively in the preliminary survey of the resource flows and in the continuous coordination with associated projects.

The first phase covers the establishment of a quality data basis as a precondition for assessing where it is possible to optimise in the collection and recovery of the resources encompassed in waste electrical equipment.

Technology and know-how

Players in other projects will study to which extent Danish technology companies can create a market for supply of hardware and know-how to the urban mining industry. The purpose is to become competitive on technology and knowledge-based recovery of metals instead of competing on wage costs.

In the future, DPA-System will collect and disseminate sub-results and conclusions from the different projects.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact DPA-System.
